Air Astana

Air Astana is an airline and the flag carrier of Kazakhstan. It was incorporated in late 2001 and its maiden flight was on the 15th May 2002.

The airline has two shareholders, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems PLC of the UK. These shareholders remain committed partners in the airline, with the Government holding a 51 per cent share through its Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, and BAE Systems PLC holding 49 per cent.

Today Air Astana Group operates a fleet of 42 western aircraft with an average age of 5.3 years. Air Astana currently operates a total of 29 aircraft. The fleet consists of Boeing 767, Airbus A320neo, Airbus A321, Airbus A321neo, A321neo LR, and Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.

The airline's 42 routes include 27 international and 15 domestic destinations. Its passengers are served by more than 5, 000 highly qualified staff, the majority of whom are from Kazakhstan, supplemented by skilled foreign personnel.

Air Astana operates a 2 class service, Business and Economy, on all aircraft, and Economy Sleeper on its Airbus 321neo Long Range aircraft. All aircraft except its Embraer E2s are equipped with an individual in-flight entertainment system supplied by RAVE in both cabins.

The Nomad Club frequent flyer program consists of Diamond, Gold, Silver and Blue membership tiers, and has reciprocal agreements with Lufthansa's Miles & More and Asiana Airlines's "Asiana Club" programs.

In May 2019 the airline successfully launched FlyArystan, the region's first truly low-cost carrier.

Air Astana was awarded the Skytrax Award for «Best Airline in Central Asia and CIS» for the 11th time and was awarded «Best Service in Central Asia and CIS» for the 2nd time. The ceremony honouring the winners took place on June 20 at the Paris Air Show.
