Air Astana

Air Astana is Kazakhstan's flag carrier. It was incorporated in late 2001 and had its maiden flight on 15 May 2002.

The airline has two shareholders, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems PLC of the UK. These shareholders remain committed partners in the airline, with the Government holding a 51 per cent share through its Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, and BAE Systems PLC holding 49 per cent.

Today, Air Astana Group operates a fleet of 33 Western aircraft with an average age of 5.5 years. The fleet consists of Boeing 767, Airbus A320neo, Airbus A321, Airbus A321neo, Airbus A321neo LR, and Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.

The airline's 42 routes include 27 international and 15 domestic destinations. The passengers are served by more than 5,000 highly qualified staff, the majority of whom are from Kazakhstan, supplemented by skilled foreign personnel.

Air Astana offers a comfortable and entertaining travel experience. Passengers can choose between Business or Economy Class on all its flights, with the added luxury of Economy Sleeper available on its Airbus 321neo Long Range aircraft. Most of its aircraft feature individual RAVE in-flight entertainment in both cabins. The airline is known for its consistently good service and strict adherence to safety policies. While its dual-hub model might present slight limitations for flights originating from Almaty, the cabin ambience and onboard experience are highly rated.

The Nomad Club frequent flyer program consists of Diamond, Gold, Silver and Blue membership tiers, and has reciprocal agreements with Lufthansa's Miles & More and Asiana Airlines's "Asiana Club" programs.

In May 2019, the airline successfully launched FlyArystan, the region's first truly low-cost carrier.
