Air Malta is primarily a point-to-point airline transporting mainly leisure-based customers to the Maltese Islands.
Air Malta started operations as the national airline of Malta on the 1st April 1974 with 7 scheduled services across Europe and two wet-leased aircraft.
Today, it connects the Islands to Europe’s main airport hubs. In addition to its own network, the Airline offers an additional 150 destinations through code share agreements with several quality airlines. Approximately 80% of all passengers are incoming to Malta, with the majority of which for leisure purposes.
The airline now operates a fleet of 8 Airbus A320 aircraft and flies to 18 scheduled destinations in Europe, and the Middle East.
As part of a fleet replacement project, the brand new 180-seater Airbus A320neo joined the airline’s fleet. This state-of-the-art aircraft fuel efficient and more environmentally friendly aircraft equipped with new generation engines will be the cornerstone of Air Malta’s brand-new fleet which the airline plans to have in the coming years. This aircraft offers more cabin space and comfort to passengers thanks to a redesigned cabin and produces a 50% less noise footprint than the A320ceo. Six out of eight of the Airline’s fleet are now Airbus A320neo.
Air Malta holds code-share agreements with AirBaltic, Air France, ITA Airways, Qatar Airways, Austrian Airlines, Emirates, KLM, Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines, Czech Airlines, Swiss Airlines, and Turkish Airlines. These agreements expand Air Malta's network to other markets globally.
Air Malta offers 2 cabin classes: Economy Class and Business Class. Choosing between Business or Economy Class will determine your level of comfort and amenities on the ground and in the air.
Flying with Business Class will give you access to the finest experience offered by Air Malta. Breeze through the airport faster thanks to your dedicated check in area at Malta International Airport. Of course, your bags will be tagged for priority handling and then you can seek respite from the outside world with access to the ‘La Valette’ Lounge, giving you time to relax and unwind. A ‘Business Anytime’ ticket also gives you the added advantage to cancel a flight or change your travel dates free of charge if the need arises.
Air Malta is certified as a 3-star airline by Skytrax for the quality of its airport and onboard product and staff service. Product rating includes seats, amenities, food & beverages, IFE, cleanliness etc, and service rating is for both cabin staff and ground staff.
