Bahamasair is the flag carrier of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Formed through the merger of Out Island Airways and Flamingo Airways, Bahamasair Holdings Limited remains wholly owned by the Bahamas Government. It operates scheduled services to 32 domestic and regional destinations in the Caribbean and the United States from its base at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA). It provides safe, reliable, and seamless air travel, connecting Nassau, the vibrant capital, to the tranquil Family Islands and international destinations.
As of May 2025, Bahamasair operates a fleet of 10 aircraft, comprising both ATR and Boeing models: specifically, 3 ATR 42s, 3 ATR 72s, and 4 Boeing 737-700s. Dual propeller jets, such as the ATR 42 and ATR 72, are used for shorter flights within the Caribbean. These planes are capable of carrying between 50 and 70 passengers. Longer routes, such as those to the United States and Haiti, are conducted with Boeing 737 jets. The aircraft features blue underbellies that match the ocean of the Caribbean, as well as a multi-colored design on the tail that reflects a map of the Bahamas.
Bahamasair provides friendly skies for all passengers in its single-class Economy cabin, characterised by a warm Bahamian welcome. A single 20lb carry-on is permitted. Adventure gear, including surfboards (under 100lb checked), is welcome. Passengers can anticipate genuine smiles from the airline's welcoming crew.
By reducing dependence on foreign carriers, Bahamasair bolsters tourism, the nation’s economic cornerstone. Committed to safety, exceptional service, and a memorable travel experience, it strives to be the airline of choice, seamlessly linking the stunning Islands of The Bahamas to the world. Travellers can expect the warmth and beauty of the Bahamas from takeoff to touchdown.
Bahamasair is certified as a 3-star airline by Skytrax for the quality of its airport and onboard product and staff service. Product rating includes seats, amenities, food & beverages, cleanliness etc, and service rating is for both cabin staff and ground staff.
