Iberia Express is a Spanish low-cost airline owned by Iberia, which operates short- and medium-haul routes from its parent airline's hub at Adolfo Suárez Madrid - Barajas Airport, providing feeder flights onto Iberia's long-haul network.
With a fleet of 26 planes, Iberia Express operates to more than 40 destinations nationally and internationally. The fleet consists of 14 Airbus A320-200 and 12 Airbus A321neo aeroplanes.
Iberia Express offers three cabin classes: Economy, Premium Economy and Business.
Iberia Express forms part of the IAG Group through its parent company Iberia and it operates via code sharing with British Airways, Finnair, LAN Airlines, Air Berlin, Japan Airlines, American Airlines, Avianca, Air Lingus, Siberia Airlines, Royal Air Maroc.
The airline began operations in March 2012 and it has gradually grown since then to position itself as the fourth main operator at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport in terms of the number of passengers, and number one between Madrid and the Canary Islands. This is largely due to its value proposition that combines the virtues of low-cost companies - competitive prices, routes, etc. - with the benefits of traditional companies - connections, additional services, customer loyalty clubs, etc. It is also one of the few low-cost airlines in the world to offer a business service on all its planes.
Iberia Express is also renowned internationally for its commitment to punctuality and regularity, as endorsed by the reports of the consultancy FlightGlobal which for five consecutive years (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018) named it the most punctual low-cost airline in the world and for 6 years (including 2019) it was named the most punctual low-cost airline in the European continent.
Iberia Express was recognized as the most-on-time airline in Europe for 2023 too.
Iberia is Certified as a 4-star Airline by Skytrax for the quality of its airport and onboard products and staff service. On skytraxratings.com Skytrax team left the following review: “Iberia product and service standards continue to improve, and these now achieve a consistent 4-star rating level in all cabin classes. Hardware for long-haul Business Class is now particularly good for seats and IFE on the latest A350. Catering is now achieving strong standards from Madrid with the cooperation with DO&CO – however, meals can be less consistent in quality from other airports, but lounge catering is of a very good quality level.”
