Sky Airline, styled as SꓘY, operating from the Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL), is now the second-largest airline in Chile, after the flag carrier LATAM, and the first to operate at a low cost. Currently it operates mostly in Chile, but it also flies to Peru, Ecuador, Argentina and Colombia, as well as to Miami as Sky Airline Peru, via Lima. Sky also flies seasonally to Uruguay and Brazil. There is also a route to Cancun, Mexico, as well as one to the Dominican Republic's favourite holiday destination, Punta Cana.
SKY operates with a modern fleet of 36 Airbus A320/A321 "neo" aircraft, which serve more than 40 destinations in the American continent through its subsidiaries in Chile and Peru.
Sky Airline utilises a straightforward three-fare model for its bookings, with tickets available in Zero, Plus, and Full fare categories.
The Zero fare represents the no-frills option, ideal for travellers packing light. Passengers can bring a personal item, such as a handbag, along with a coat or jacket, and a seat will be randomly assigned.
The Plus fare is an all-in-one ticket. It includes allowances for a personal item, a traditional carry-on bag, and one checked bag up to 50 pounds. Additionally, this fare permits passengers to select their standard seat.
Finally, the Full fare offers the highest degree of flexibility and customisation. It includes the same personal item and carry-on bag allowances as the Plus fare, but also permits a second checked bag up to 50 pounds. A significant benefit of the Full fare is the ability to make changes to dates, names, and even destinations without incurring extra charges.
Just like many budget-friendly carriers, Sky Airline maintains strict luggage policies to ensure smooth operations. Adhering to these guidelines will help you avoid surprises and enjoy a seamless travel experience.
Every fare includes a personal item such as a backpack, purse, or small suitcase, designed to fit conveniently under the seat in front of you. If your ticket includes a carry-on, remember it must be stowed in the overhead compartment and weigh no more than 22 pounds. For checked baggage, each piece can weigh up to 50 pounds and travels securely in the aircraft's hold.
When it comes to seating, passengers with Zero and Plus fares will find themselves in standard seats located behind the wings, offering approximately 28 inches of legroom. Opting for a Full fare grants you the freedom to select any available seat, including those at the front of the plane. While these seats also provide 28 inches of legroom, their primary advantage is the opportunity for a quicker exit upon arrival.
