WestJet WestJet

WestJet

WestJet Airlines Ltd. is a Canadian airline founded in 1994. In 1996, Clive Beddoe and a team of like-minded partners started WestJet with 3 aircraft, 5 destinations and 220 friendly WestJetters. It began as a low-cost alternative to the country's competing major airlines. Today under the slogan 'Owners Care to Love where you're going' WestJet operates 5 different aircraft types and fly to more than 100 destinations in North America, Central America, The Caribbean and Europe. 14,000 WestJetters are dedicated to flying more than 22 million guests a year, on over 700 flights per day, with a fleet of over 101 aircraft.

In July 2020, WestJet retired their fleet of 4 Boeing 767-300ERs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In January 2021, it was announced that the four 767-300 aircraft from WestJet were to be among a total of 11 to be purchased by Amazon and converted to freight use.

As of January 2022, WestJet is developing a modern fleet, currently consisting of  43 Boeing 737-700, 38 Boeing 737-800, 14 Boeing 737 MAX 8, 6 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Before ever leaving the runway, thousands of hours of preparation, training and care go into every WestJet flight. Beyond the aircraft provides a behind-the-scenes look at the incredible measures WestJetters take to ensure the comfort and safety of each and every guest.

WestJet offers Business, Premium and Economy cabins. F&B is complimentary on long-haul flights, and Business delivers a good experience. Some routes use older, less comfortable Boeing 767 planes. Product standards on short-haul are fair, and cabin staff service is generally a strong area for the airline.

On WestJet's 737s, economy seats have a pitch of 31"-34" and are offered in a 3-3 configuration. Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and snacks are included.

WestJet has two direct subsidiaries: WestJet Encore, which operates the Bombardier Q400; and WestJet Link, which operates the Saab 340B through a seat capacity purchase agreement with Pacific Coastal Airlines.

WestJet opened its flagship Elevation Business Lounge, in 2020, at Calgary International Airport. Westjet opened Elevation lounges at its other main hubs YVR Vancouver International Airport and YYZ Toronto Pearson International Airport.
