Virgin Australia, the trading name of Virgin Australia Airlines Pty Ltd, is an Australian-based airline, headquartered in Brisbane. It is the largest airline by fleet size to use the Virgin brand. It commenced services on 31 August 2000 as Virgin Blue, with two aircraft on a single route. Virgin Australia is part of a very big family, the Virgin Group. Conceived in 1970 by Sir Richard Branson, the Group has become one of the most highly respected global brand names of the 21st century.

Since the establishment of its first company, Virgin Records, Virgin has created more than 300 branded companies worldwide. These companies operate in sectors ranging from mobile telephony to transportation, travel, financial services, media, music and fitness and, of course, the soon to be launched space tourism operation, Virgin Galactic.

The airline's main hub is located at Brisbane Airport (BNE), with connections to more than 10 destinations around the world and more than 30 destinations across Australia. Several hubs are located at Sydney Airport (SYD) and Melbourne Airport (MEL).

Virgin Australia operates one of the world’s most advanced and modern fleets of aircraft.

Attractive and powerful, and with more than 105 aircraft in operation, the fleet is a frontrunner in its field.
