Virgin Australia, the trading name of Virgin Australia Airlines Pty Ltd, is an Australian-based airline, headquartered in Brisbane. It is the largest airline by fleet size to use the Virgin brand. It commenced services on 31 August 2000 as Virgin Blue, with two aircraft on a single route. Virgin Australia is part of a very big family, the Virgin Group. Conceived in 1970 by Sir Richard Branson, the Group has become one of the most highly respected global brand names of the 21st century.
Since the establishment of its first company, Virgin Records, Virgin has created more than 300 branded companies worldwide. The airline's main hub is located at Brisbane Airport Airport, with connections to more than 10 destinations around the world and more than 30 destinations across Australia. A number of hubs are located at Sydney Airport and Melbourne Airport.

The fleet is consisting of 11 Fokker 100, 5 Airbus A320, 2 Boeing 737-700, 68 Boeing 737-800 and 2 Boeing 737-700 Economy Range aircraft. According to Hrdlicka the airline also expects to add four Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in response to growing travel demand and as part of its growth strategy

Virgin Australia has two classes of travel: Economy and Business.
The Virgin Australia Business Class cabin offers travellers supreme comfort along with personalised service.
Complete with recliner leather seats, extra legroom, priority check-in, boarding and Lounge access, plus a dedicated overhead baggage compartment, Virgin Australia Business Class is available on most of the airline’s network of domestic and international services.
Those travelling in Business Class will also experience the airline’s fresh and delicious menu, featuring hot and cold meals, served with a choice of Australian beers and wines, soft drinks and hot beverages.
Economy Class guests travelling on domestic services will be able to purchase a variety of food and drinks from our onboard menu, along with complimentary water, tea and coffee.
