Wizz Air, legally incorporated as Wizz Air Hungary Ltd., is a Hungarian ultra-low-cost carrier with its head office in Budapest.
The airline is stylised as W!ZZ Air.
The plan to launch Wizz Air began in June 2003 when six people with a wide range of airline expertise and successful track records teamed up with József Váradi, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer. In just three months, Wizz Air was a registered company ready to fly. The first flight took off on the 19th of May 2004 from Katowice to London Luton.
In the year of its 10th birthday, the carrier received the delivery of the 50th Airbus A320.

Wizz Air flies over 600 routes across Europe and beyond, Wizz Air welcomes travellers from all walks of life with the desire to travel through the sky their way. A young and modern fleet played a key role in being named among the top ten safest low-cost carriers of 2019. Airbus A321neo aircraft’s new-generation engines offer significant environmental benefits making the airline with the smallest environmental footprint per passenger.

According to Skytrax Wizz Air is an ultra-low-cost airline with a 28-inch seat pitch that is amongst the smallest of European low-cost airlines. Baggage weight and size are strictly enforced, and free carry-on items must fit under the forward seat. Buy-on-board F&B is priced competitively and has some interesting selections. Staff service is efficient, but the Wizz Air service hospitality varies greatly.
