Batik Air is a rapidly expanding Malaysian-based airline with its main hubs at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, KLIA Main Terminal and Subang Skypark, the convenient KL downtown city airport in Selangor, Malaysia. The airline took to the skies in March 2013 with domestic flights in Malaysia and has since grown to operate routes to all major airports across the continents of Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
Under the slogan “Freedom to fly”, Batik Air effectively manages 800 weekly flights across an expanding network of 52 routes within the region. International destinations included Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang, as well as Adelaide, Chennai, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.
The airline also operates charters to Guilin, Nanning, Kunming and Shenzhen in China.
The airline chiefly focuses on operating within the Indonesian domestic market, which makes up of 90% of its scheduled capacity.
Batik Air has obtained the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). The airline holds full membership in the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as well.
Batik Air's fleet currently includes the following aircraft: Airbus A320-200, Airbus A320neo, Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 737-800. Notably, the B737-800 aircraft, configured in a single class, accommodates either 180 or 189 seats.
Batik Air offers a good onboard product standard for domestic and short-haul, and a comfortable seat in Economy and Business.
The Batik Air B737-800 is also configured in a two-class layout, with 12 new Business Class seats laid out in a 2-2 configuration. The new Business Class seat has been specially designed for regional and medium-haul routes, offering enhanced levels of comfort, privacy and functionality. The Economy class, with 150 Economy Class seats, is in a 3-3 layout configuration. The new generation seats are now available on the Batik Air B737-8 aircraft. They are ergonomically designed to provide customers with improved headrests for comfort, more personal space and increased legroom.
Batik Air is a member of the Lion Air Group of Indonesia comprising Batik Air Indonesia, Super Air Jet, Lion Air, Wings Air, Biz Jet and Thai Lion Air.
Batik Air is Certified as a 3-Star Airline by Skytrax for the quality of its airport and onboard products and staff service. Product rating includes seats, amenities, food & beverages, IFE, cleanliness etc, and service rating is for both cabin staff and ground staff.
