MEA (Middle East Airlines) is the national airline of Lebanon and one of the leading Middle Eastern carriers. From its home base at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY), Middle East Airlines flies to 32 international destinations in Europe, the Middle East and West Africa.
MEA is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance. On 28 June 2012, the airline officially joined the alliance, becoming its 17th member and the second member airline in the Middle East.
MEA has one of the most modern fleets in the world. Large, modern and environmentally compatible - MEA fleet comprises aircraft of almost every size. MEA consistently rejuvenates its fleet, replacing older aircraft with new-generation, more fuel-efficient and quieter aircraft. MEA’s fleet consists of 21 Airbus aircraft: A330-200, A320-200 and A321neo. All aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art onboard entertainment technology with Audio and Video On Demand.
The interior colours of MEA´s fleet were selected to reflect the Lebanese relaxed and lively atmosphere.
MEA´s fleet is equipped with ventilated and temperature-controlled cargo compartments for the carriage of live animals and perishable cargo.
In June 2019, Middle East Airlines (MEA) signed a firm order for the purchase of four A321XLR aircraft, scheduled for delivery between 2024 and 2025. This agreement established MEA as the launch customer for the latest version of the highly successful A321neo family. The order increased MEA’s total commitments for Airbus A321neo family aircraft to 15, comprising 11 A321neo and 4 A321XLR aircraft, with deliveries starting in 2020. MEA utilises the A321XLR to enhance its network in Africa and Asia. Additionally, the airline acquired four A330-900neo aircraft, expected to be delivered between 2026 and 2028.

On board, meals are selected from the rich Lebanese and European cuisines. On morning flights, the airline serves brunch: Fresh juice, viennoiseries, Lebanese bites and a main course, followed by fresh fruits. Knafeh (a Lebanese speciality) is almost always provided out of Beirut.
When passengers fly back from Europe or Africa, they will enjoy lunch and dinner, featuring a combination of European hors d'oeuvres, a choice of main courses, fresh salad, and a variety of desserts. On the Gulf routes, lunch and dinner are also served: a rich selection of Lebanese hors d'oeuvres, fresh salad, a choice of main course and a dessert. Cold snacks are available on short flights.
On January 9, 2023, twenty-five years after Mr. Mohamad El Hout, Chairman and Director General of the Middle East Airlines, took office at MEA, the new building of MEA headquarter,s “the green building,” has been inaugurated under the patronage and in the presence of H.E. Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
The new building contains all the departments of the company’s General Management, the Operations, the IT Department, as well as dormitories for the trainees and the lecturers and a parking lot. As for the old buildings, they will be transformed into sports courts for the employees and green areas.
MEA is certified as a 3-Star Airline by Skytrax for the quality of its airport and onboard product and staff service. Product rating includes seats, amenities, food & beverages, IFE, cleanliness, etc, and service rating is for both cabin staff and ground staff.
