MEA

MEA (Middle East Airlines) is the national airline of Lebanon and one of the leading Middle Eastern carriers. From its home base at Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Middle East Airlines flies to 32 international destinations in Europe, Middle East and West Africa. 

MEA is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance. On 28 June 2012, the airline officially joined the alliance, becoming its 17th member and the second member airline in the Middle East.

MEA has one of the most modern fleets in the world. Large, modern and environmentally compatible - MEA fleet comprises aircraft of almost every size. MEA consistently rejuvenates its fleet, replacing older with new-generation, more fuel-efficient and quieter aircraft.
 MEA’s fleet consist of 18 Airbus aircraft: A330-200, A320-200 and A321neo. All aircraft are equipped with state of the art  onboard entertainment technology with Audio and Video On Demand. 

The interior colors of MEA´s fleet were selected to reflect the Lebanese relaxed and lively atmosphere. 

MEA´s fleet is equipped with ventilated and temperature controlled cargo compartments for the carriage of live animals and perishable cargo.

 In June 2019, MEA signed a firm order for the purchase of four A321XLR which will be be delivered between 2024-2025, making it the launch customer of the latest version of the highly successful A321 neo family. The agreement brings orders for the single-aisle aircraft cumulated by Middle East Airlines with Airbus to 15 A321neo Family aircraft, including 11 A321neos and 4 A321XLRs delivery as of 2020. MEA will use the A321XLR to strengthen its network in Africa and Asia. In addition, the company purchased four A330-990 Neo expected to be delivered between 2026-2028.

On board, meals are selected from the rich Lebanese and European cuisines. 

On morning flights, the airline serves brunch: Fresh juice, viennoiseries, Lebanese bites and a main course, followed by fresh fruits. Knafeh (a Lebanese specialty) is almost always provided out of Beirut.

If you are flying back from Europe or Africa, you will enjoy lunch and dinner: a combination of European hors d'oeuvres, a choice of main course, fresh salad and a variety of desserts.

On the Gulf routes, lunch and dinner are also served: a rich selection of Lebanese hors d'oeuvres, fresh salad, a choice of main course and a dessert.

Cold snacks are available on short flights.

On January 9, 2023, twenty-five years after Mr. Mohamad El Hout, Chairman and Director General of the Middle East Airlines took office at MEA, the new building of MEA headquarters “the green building” has been inaugurated under the patronage and in the presence of H.E. Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

The new building contains all the departments of the company’s General Management, the Operations, the IT Department as well as dormitories for the trainees and the lecturers and a parking lot. As for the old buildings, they will be transformed into sport courts for the employees and green areas. 

MEA is Certified as a 3-Star Airline by Skytrax for the quality of its airport and onboard product and staff service. Product rating includes seats, amenities, food & beverages, IFE, cleanliness etc, and service rating is for both cabin staff and ground staff.
