Milan Bergamo Airport
Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY), also famous as Orio al Serio International Airport, is the third-busiest international airport in Italy. It's also officially called Il Caravaggio International Airport after the Baroque painter Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, who originally hailed from the nearby town of Caravaggio.
The airport is home to one of Europe’s strongest low-cost ecosystems: Ryanair, Wizz Air, easyJet, Norwegian, Pegasus, Air Arabia, seasonal carriers, and charters.
From Bergamo, travellers can reach: major European capitals, Mediterranean islands, Eastern Europe and the Balkans, North Africa and the Middle East. Nearly 150 destinations are connected through BGY, making the airport a vital mobility hub for Italy.
The airport is located in Orio al Serio, 2.3 mi southeast of Bergamo and 28 mi northeast of Milan. Together with Milan Malpensa Airport and Milan Linate Airport, it forms the Milan airport system serving the Milan metropolitan area.
The airport has one passenger terminal and two jet-bridge gates.
The terminal is split into two zones, A (Gates A1-A15) and B (Gates B1-B5). Gates A13 and B5 are equipped with boarding bridges; the remaining gates are remote.
BGY is intentionally designed to feel fast, compact, and intuitive, making it ideal for both leisure travellers and frequent flyers.
Spacious counters are serving all major carriers, automated kiosks for quick check-in, and efficient security control areas redesigned for faster throughput.
Travellers will find a curated selection of Italian cafés and bakeries, duty-free boutiques, local delicacies and wine selections, as well as fashion and accessories inspired by Milan’s design culture.
The HelloSky Lounge is available for comfort-seeking passengers. Inside the lounge, guests can enjoy quiet workstations, refreshments, Wi-Fi, and panoramic views of the apron and runway.
The A4 is one of the main road networks that links the airport.
There are several public transportation links to and from downtown Milan, including express coaches.
While a railway station is currently being built at Bergamo Airport, scheduled to open in 2026, the nearest railway station is Bergamo railway station, located 3.5 miles away. There is no official shuttle between the airport and the railway station. A bus service operated by ATB connects to the airport, about 10 minutes from the train station.
In Magelline’s eyes, Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) is the northern horizon’s quiet heartbeat — a gateway where Alpine winds meet the ambition of Lombardy. Here, every flight is a unique experience, infused not only with the Italian soil but also with the artistic spirit of Milan and the medieval spirit of Bergamo. Each landing is stylish, unique, and like a moving mosaic.
