Air Europa

Air Europa is the third-largest Spanish airline after Iberia, as its subsidiary, and Vueling. The airline is headquartered in Llucmajor, Mallorca, Spain, and has its main hub at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport with secondary focus cities at Palma de Mallorca Airport and Tenerife North Airport. Air Europa flight to more than 50 destinations around Spain, Europe, South America, North America, the Caribbean, Morocco, and Tunisia. 
 

Founded in 1986 on the island of Mallorca, Air Europa focused on charter flights from European cities to Spanish resorts on the Mediterranean coast and Canary Islands. By the late 1990s, Air Europa had expanded in Spain and Europe and had long-term aspirations focused on long-haul flights to Caribbean and South America destinations. Over the coming years, Air Europa continued to grow, and on September 1st, 2007, officially joined the SkyTeam alliance. In 2009 Air Europa continued its expansion, adding Lisbon, London, Venice, New York, and Miami to its list of destinations. 
 

In 2013, Air Europa becomes the first international company to obtain a licence to operate domestic flights in Brazil. Air Europa and Air France-KLM sign a joint venture agreement for flights between Europe and Central and South America. This agreement allows it to expand its offer and improve the travel opportunities of its respective customers. It leads the biometric boarding pilot project at Mahón Airport (Menorca). It opens new routes to Panama, Medellín, Iguazú, Casablanca and Tunisia. 
 

In January 2021, a deal was reached between International Airlines Group (IAG) and Air Europa, with IAG now buying the airline for 500€ million. With Iberia, which also belongs to IAG, the airline group already had a strong presence in Latin America.
 

Air Europa’s modern fleet is a sign of the company’s clear commitment to becoming one of the world’s most modern airlines. Air Europa’s fleet is one of the youngest on the continent and will continue to grow. Throughout 2021 four new Boeing 787 will be added to the Air Europa fleet. They have individual entertainment systems with screens on the backrest of the seat in front of you. 

Depending on the itinerary, Air Europa’s Airbus 330 aircraft offer different in-flight audiovisual systems, such as cabin entertainment screens for watching films or streaming video and audio that you can watch or listen to on your own tablet or smartphone device.

Air Europa was Among APEX 2020’s Main Four-Star Airlines.

APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association) announced the ratings of its member airlines, in which Air Europa was certified in the regional airline category.

These ratings were drawn up based on information provided by passengers from almost 600 airlines around the world, who rated more than one million flights between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019. This data was collected and verified by APEX, in collaboration with TripIt from Concur.

Passengers rate their flight experience completely anonymously using on-board screens. Firstly, they score their experience in general, before assessing specific subcategories such as seating comfort, cabin service, food and drink, entertainment and Wi-Fi.
