TAROM is the flag carrier and oldest currently operating airline of Romania, based in Otopeni near Bucharest. Its headquarters and its main hub are at Henri Coandă International Airport. TAROM as the Romanian Air Transport was founded in Romania in 1920. Known then as the Franco-Romanian Air Navigation Company, it was one of the first commercial airlines in history and the first to operate transcontinental flights. The company became TAROM in 1954, and 12 years later made its first flight across the Atlantic. 

The TAROM logo, representing a swallow in flight, has been used on all TAROM aircraft since 1954. 

Today, the company operates on more than 50 own destinations and destinations operated by its codeshare partners.

TAROM is a modern and future-oriented company which is environmentally friendly by implementing innovative procedures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. 

In 2010 TAROM joined SkyTeam. 

The Romanian flag carrier owns one of the youngest fleets in Europe and has been a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 1993.

TAROM currently operates with 19 aircraft on international and domestic flights: it has 9 Boeing 737, 4 Airbus A318 and 6 ATR 72.

If you have enough time before boarding, you can enjoy the unique atmosphere and the facilities of the TAROM business lounge from Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport. Besides the buffet and the bar which are permanently open, TAROM BUSINESS LOUNGE offers you access to TV, PC and wi-fi. The entrance to TAROM BUSINESS LOUNGE is done based on a fee which will give you the right to undergo check-in formalities at the business check-in booth.

TAROM has been awarded the 3-Star Airline certification by Skytrax for the quality of its airport and onboard product and staff service. Product rating includes seats, amenities, food & beverages, IFE, cleanliness etc, and service rating is for both cabin staff and ground staff.
