Ukraine International Airlines PJSC, often shortened to UIA, is the flag carrier and the largest airline of Ukraine, with its head office in Kyiv. UIA's main hub is located in Kyiv's Boryspil International Airport.
UIA is the first officially registered IOSA Operator in the CIS which have successfully completed the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). UIA became the 51st registered IOSA Operator out of more than 250 IATA members, alongside KLM, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, TAP and SAS which are also on the IOSA Registry.
This official IOSA Operator status proves that UIA's operational and safety standards are fully in line with international requirements.
UIA was founded in 1992 as an international carrier of independent Ukraine by the Ukrainian State Association of Civil Aviation and GPA, the world’s largest aircraft lessor. The organizational model of a public-private entity empowered UIA to take advantage of the strengths of all shareholders, to seize a vast selection of business opportunities, as well as to adopt the best maintenance, operation, service, and management practices of its international partners.
UIA is the only airline in the Ukrainian market that primarily develops regular passenger air transportation, thus being part of Ukraine's transport infrastructure.
As of September 2021, the UIA fleet includes 26 airliners of various modifications: 1 wide-body long-haul aircraft Boeing 777-200ER, 1 long-haul wide-body aircraft Boeing 767-300ER, 17 medium-haul Boeing-737 New Generation, 5 medium-haul Embraer-190 and 2 medium-haul Embraer.
Ukrainian hospitality, modern fleet, internationally trained and certified crew, as well as ground personnel, ensure that UIA competes successfully on international markets.
UIA operates domestic and international passenger flights and cargo services to Europe, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, and Asia.
UIA serves over 1000 flights per week.
Popular routes are Kyiv - Toronto, Kyiv - Montreal, Kyiv - Cairo, Kyiv - Munich, Kyiv - Milan, Kyiv - Nice, Kyiv - Yerevan, Kyiv - Delhi, Kyiv - Dubai, Kyiv - Barcelona, Kyiv - Athens, Kyiv - Paris, Kyiv - Prague, Kyiv - London, Kyiv - Istanbul, Kyiv - Larnaca, Odesa - Istanbul, Kyiv - Tbilisi, Kyiv - Tashkent.
During the corona crisis of 2020, UIA managed to withstand the lack of any support from the state solely through management decisions: redistribution of financial pressure on expenditures, staff reductions, transfer of a significant part of the team to remote work, etc.
