Yellowknife Airport (YZF) is located in Yellowknife and it's within a five-minute drive from downtown. YZF is the central hub for the NWT airport system. Yellowknife Airport (YZF) serves as the primary aviation gateway of the Northwest Territories. It is one of the 26 airports included in the National Airports System as an infrastructure asset imperative to Canada’s air transportation system.

YZF hosts extensive commercial activities, including but not limited to airline services, cargo, storage, logistics, automotive rentals and dealerships, and fuel dispensing.

With the provision of these services, YZF plays a major role in supporting industry, tourism, security, and quality of life in the Northwest Territories.

YZF also conducts federal and territorial aviation operations related to national defence, forest fire fighting, medevac and charter services, and base facilities.

Regularly scheduled air service to the communities is provided by Air North, Air Tindi, Canadian North, Northwestern Air Lease, Northwright Air, Buffalo Airways and Summit Air.
