Edmonton International Airport (IATA: YEG) is the primary air passenger and air cargo facility in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region in Canada. YEG is one of the fastest-growing airports in Canada. This is the country’s fifth-busiest airport and it is operated by the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority, a community-based, not-for-profit corporation established in 1990. YEG leases land from Transport Canada. The Authority is legally and financially independent. No government or other body has a call on the assets of the Authority. All income and surpluses must be re-invested into airport operations.  The authority continues to invest in technology and development to serve more passengers and businesses in more ways.

YEG is located 16 miles south-southwest of Downtown Edmonton in Leduc County on Highway 2 opposite the city of Leduc. The airport offers scheduled non-stop flights to major cities in Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and Europe. It is a hub facility for Northern Alberta and Northern Canada. The airport has a catchment area encompassing Central and Northern Alberta, northern British Columbia, and Yukon, the Northwest Territories and western Nunavut.

YEG offers United States border preclearance facilities. Passengers from domestic flights connecting in Edmonton to a US destination use Quick Connect, which enables passengers to clear US Customs and Border Protection without having to claim and recheck baggage or re-clear security during the connection. The airport has an Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge and two Plaza Premium lounges.

The 213-room in-airport Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel is located groundside within the terminal complex.

The airport serves as headquarters for two major Canadian airlines, passenger carrier Flair Airlines and cargo carrier Morningstar Air Express. YEG provides scheduled nonstop flights to over 50 destinations.
Edmonton is also one of WestJet's main hubs: the airline flies to 30 destinations with an average of 62 nonstop daily departures from Edmonton. WestJet is the largest carrier at YEG, holding more than 70% of the market share.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, YEG underwent a major construction program that cost $450 million.

A new south terminal was built to house Air Canada and international carriers. WestJet became the principal tenant of the north terminal.

Central Hall was built to accommodate security screening and retail services, and a new cargo apron was built to handle growing air shipment volumes.

In 2012, another $700 million was invested in additional gates, a new passenger concourse and expanded parking.
